B.o.B - EPIC (Every Play is Crucial)

Dude, I didn't post yesterday. I gotta keep up with this. I gotta couple football stories from this weekend coming. But for now, here's some new music from B.o.B. This mixtape is awesome. Like I thought the Lupe Fiasco mixtape was great, but this is just amazing. Every song is greatness, with a lot of people featured on it. The best songs are "Wrong" and "Strange Clouds", as well as "New York, New York" which has been out for a while. I've been a big B.o.B fan for a while, but really haven't heard a lot from him for a while, which makes this mixtape even greater. You definitely MUST download this great piece of music! Get it right here, you're welcome:

Stevie Johnson Celebration Mocks Plaxico Burress

I already posted a video this year from a Bills vs. Jets game! But I had to share this video, which every football fan saw yesterday. Stevie Johnson scores a TD on Darrelle Revis and mocks Plaxico Burress by simulating shooting himself in the leg. He then fell on the ground, which caused him to get a personal foul.
I like Stevie Johnson, but that is just flat out dumb. Especially since he set up good field position for the Jets and Plax went down and scored a TD on that drive, and the Bills ultimately lost the game. I would expect Johnson to receive a fine for the celebration for sure. Plax was also the guy who made a great catch on the Jets final touchdown drive to win the game.
After the game, Johnson was very apologetic about the celebration, feeling like he had cost his team a loss.
Burress was very mature following the game. "I've seen worse, and I've heard worse," Burress said. "So, it doesn't bother me at all. The result I'm looking at is we won the football game.
"I mean, I've already been through the ringer with that whole situation, so I've dealt with it accordingly and put those things behind me. You're going to see things, you're going to hear things, or whatever it may be, but it doesn't bother me at all.
"He's a young player and I like him a lot. I think he's a great young talent and is going to be a great player in this league."

Ricky Rubio Highlights

Basketball is back, and I'm super excited for Ricky Rubio. I already ordered my Rubio jersey for the season. Just check out these highlights and see how good this kid can be! And he's my age; crazy, crazy. Let's go Rubio! T-Wolves nation!

NBA is Back Baby!

Great news today in the NBA as the two sides have "tentatively" agreed on a deal (whatever that means). The plan is for a season to begin on Christmas day, December 25th with a triple header featuring some great games. Training camps and free agency would open December 9th, with a 66 game season.
This is like the best news I've heard all week. I'm excited to go see my T-Wolves in action with Ricky Rubio. I'm also the only person in the world who has said that... But hey, a bad basketball team is better than none! Welcome back NBA, we've missed you!

Supa Hot Fire - Rap Battle (But I'm Not a Rapper)

I thought I had to put up a video for the week, so why not go with this one? Supa Hot Fire spitting some dope lyrics during this rap battle. It is too dang funny, so I have to share it. Also look up Rap Battles 2 & 3 as well, they're all hilarious:

Lupe Fiasco - Friend of the People

And I just heard this new mixtape out today and it is pretty fricken good. I've always been a pretty big Lupe Fiasco fan. This one is great! It has 12 tracks on it, including an epic introduction. The best song in my opinion - Joaquin Phoenix. This song has a dope beat and great rapping by Lupe. I won't even share mixtapes on here if I don't think they should be download. This mixtape definitely needs to be downloaded. Get it right now. Right here. Download it dude, just do it:

Ndamukong Suh - Dumbest Guy Ever

Come on man! Ndamukong Suh gave the Packers a free touchdown today by committing the dumbest penalty I have ever seen. The Lions stopped the Packers on 3rd & goal, inside the Detroit 10 yard line. But the dirtiest/stupidest guy in the league decided to shove Evan Dietrich-Smith's head into the ground three times then stomp on his arm. This ended up giving Green Bay a first down, and Suh an ejection.
The league should suspend Suh for the season for such an unclassy act. Even if they don't, Jim Schwartz should know that he needs to be benched for a game or two. You can't make such awful decisions, especially in a close game that they were in. That totally shifted the momentum, which ended up being a huge factor that led Green Bay on a rally.
Suh has had a reputation for being a dirty player for a while, and he only solidified that perception today. Stomping on a guy's arm? Come on dude. And at least if you're gonna talk about it, tell us that you're sorry and your emotions came out in the wrong way. Instead, Suh makes excuses and says he's trying to regain his balance. Yeah sure, I stomp on people when I'm regaining my balance too.
Since last season, Suh has had nine personal fouls. That is the most out of any player in the league. He met with Commissioner Roger Goodell not too long ago, and seemed to have learned some lessons. But it seems to me like he may need a few more lessons. Poor act, Ndamukong. You're a great athlete, but you need to calm down and handle the game without being such a stupid/dirty player.

Good Music for Thanksgiving Weekend

We got the long weekend ahead of us, so we better find some good music. I got a few suggestions:

KiD CuDi - Brake
I have been looking forward to some new CuDi for a long time, and here it is. This song is awesome, I love the rock flow that he is putting on those new tracks. His newest album Wizard is set to come out next month and I cannot wait!! I have always been a huge fan of his, ever since his first mixtape came out, I have been listening the whole time. And now this album, CuDi says, will change the face of music. Boom. Take a listen to the new one:

AudioDax - Smile
I always enjoy a little AudioDax, and I have to say that this is one of their best. They really have a different style of music, but anyone can enjoy it. The vocals mixed with the techno-like music really blends together. This song has more of that.

Common - Celebrate
This song is tight. I love the beat, with an awesome hook. Common also has his new album coming out soon, entitled The Dreamer, The Believer. This is another album I'm definitely looking forward to, especially with a sweet preview like this.

T.I. - Pyro
T.I. is back with another hit. He always finds a great beat to match is rapping style. I'm hoping he can get back to making another album like his previous ones. He's got a lot of rap left in him and I'm ready to hear it! Here's another great one from T.I.:

Allen Gregory

I just got done watching the new episode of Allen Gregory. This show is awesome. I just love the humor that Jonah Hill comes up with. Basically the show is about a rich kid in who is forced to attend public school, where he's trying to fit in. He has a hilarious attitude, and the sarcastic tone he uses just makes me laugh throughout the whole show. Oh and bt-dubs, Guillermo is the funniest dude on it. It is definitely a show that is worth watching. Go check it out everyone! Good luck Jonah!

Leinart to Start Sunday

Matt Leinart is starting this weekend for the Houston Texans, and I have to say... I'm actually quite excited to see him play. I was a big fan of Leinart in college when he was at USC along with Reggie Bush (who I am also a big fan of), and I was hoping that I would be able to see him play more. Well, this is the week I will get to see him. At 7-3, the Texans are taking on a below average Jaguars team at 3-7, led by rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert. And since Houston is coming off the bye week, Leinart has had a plenty of time to get used to his starting role before taking the field.
"I've worked hard, I've been focused every day since I've been here, preparing for an opportunity like this, just in case this ever came up," Leinart told the Washington Post yesterday. "Now it's just time to take all that preparation onto the field."
I expect a big week from Leinart, and I'm really hoping that he shows signs that he could be a starting quarterback somewhere. I would love to see him end up in Miami or Washington in the off-season, where he could probably take that role. Good luck this week Matt! Looking forward to watching.

Thumbs Down for Bears

For today's post on football, I wanted to let everyone know that the Bears were going to be a team to fear. I felt like they had the strongest defense, along with an offense who could get things done. And the best part about the team is that they don't have the big name guys that you would expect to take them far. Aside from Devin Hester, the Bears offense has a scrappy team full of Matt Forte, Johnny Knox, and Kellen Davis. Somehow these guys could just pull everything together and win games, and they have been looking like a scary team to play against.
But with the reports on Jay Cutler's thumb surgery, the team turns to Caleb Hanie for offensive leadership under center. The injury is not expected to keep Cutler out for the entire season, but with the Bears in a playoff run, it is a significant loss.
Let's keep in mind that Cutler had his critics last year. After going out with a knee injury in last season's NFC Championship game, people questioned his toughness. I was one of those people. But after seeing Cutler finish that game after injuring his thumb trying to tackle a defender, I got some mad props for Jay. That play allowed enough time for Forte to force Cason out of bounds and keep points off the board for San Diego. Overall, I just have to say that it sucks to be a Bears fan and that Jay Cutler has earned my respect as a football player and a leader.

PULSE Concert Event - Owl City

I'm gonna start off the week by telling you about a concert I went to last night. It was awesome, I had a great time. I got there a little late and was able to catch Family Force 5 before Owl City came on. Both groups had a great performance and it was a lot of fun.
Mainly, I thought the message of the concert was great. PULSE led the concert and told their stories about how they found Jesus. Nick Hall was the host and had a very nice talk with the crowd. It was very uplifting for everyone there and still very comforting. I just thought that it was worth mentioning because they put on a great show, and I would love to go to more events put on by PULSE. Go visit their website at http://pulsemovement.com/

Tebow Does It Again

I have to get back to talking about the most popular guy in football right now, after his phenomenal final drive in last night's game. Tim Tebow pulled off another fourth quarter victory in Denver last night in the Broncos game against the Jets. With just 58 seconds left in the game, Tebow took off for a 20 yard TD run to lift his team to a 17-13 win. Not only did he get the game winning touchdown, but also led the Broncos on a 95 yard drive to do so.
And of course, he still has his haters. He threw for 104 yards during the game, with no touchdowns. He also just had a 45% completion percentage. But with 8 carries for 68 yards and the game winning scramble for a TD, Tebow did his thing. Nobody argued that he would be MVP or even make the Pro Bowl. However, Tebow has done what all of his supporters have thought he would do. In the words of Skip Bayless - "He just wins games."
So I don't really care what people have to say about Tebow. He plays in a different way, which doesn't mean he has to have great stats. He does what he can to manage games and come away with victories. And that is an important quality that has fans in Denver believing that this team can turn it around.

Good Music for Another Good Weekend

I haven't been great at updating a whole lot lately. I've had a busy week! But I'm trying to keep up, so here's some more great music for the weekend. I'm gonna have to get down to some good rap tunes for the next couple nights and have a good time. Here's some good stuff to listen to:

John West - Already There (feat. Big Sean)
I'm becoming a big fan of Big Sean, so I thought I would check this song out. I love the beat, and John West has a good voice to go with it. This is just a chill, but pretty fun song to listen to.

Timeflies - Under the Sea
Here's another tight rap song that brings back some memories. Using a sample from "The Little Mermaid," Cal from Timeflies freestyles to a nice beat. This a quite a cool duo that makes rap songs, usually from beats that are sampled. Definitely check out their stuff, cuz they have some nice freestyles. Go to http://timefliesmusic.com/

Mike Golden & Friends - #NoNumber
Now on to some rock music... I love Mike Golden & Friends! Found this band through GoodMusicAllDay.com and have all their songs. This one is the newest and it is greatness. I love the intensity of his voice when he sings. You have to go find the EP entitled Trees, it is one of the best mixes I have heard. For now, just enjoy #NoNumber right here.

Julius Myth - Nightmares
Back to some more hip-hop, this song is a couple months old, but it is one that I really enjoy. Another chill beat, with Julius Myth singing on the track. I love this guy's voice and the lyrics are pretty good. "I guess it's time for me to wake up, and realize that life's a bitch with no makeup."

Tragedy at Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State Women's Basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant coach Miranda Serna were killed in a plane crash last night, while on a recruiting trip to Arkansas. The team was told about the crash this morning. The cause of the crash was unknown. It has been almost 11 years since 10 people associated with the men's basketball program from Oklahoma State died in a plane crash in Colorado.
There is not a lot to say about this story, other than it is a complete tragedy. From what I have heard, everyone respected Budke as a coach, and most importantly as a husband, father, and friend. Prayers go out to the families of the victims and the Oklahoma State organization.

New Podcast - Von's Voice

My roommate Isak Ivanic has the newest edition of his podcast, Von's Voice, out today. A great podcast, which usually recaps the weekend in the NFL and discusses some news going on around the sports world, including heroes of the week. It's a fun podcast, and I got the chance to sit in with @Vonster15 on the latest episode to talk about what has been going on in sports this week. I also put in the plug for my blog on the show, so it's only right that I share Isak's work here on my blog. I hope everyone takes a listen and let me know what you think!

NBA Still Locked Out

Derek Fisher and the NBA players will begin to disband the union, putting the season in jeoparding and burning even more their relationships with owners.

This NBA lockout is just getting ridiculous. My guess is that the season will be totally cancelled. In the NFL, both players and owners knew that it was huge to get a deal done and worked like crazy. The NBA is a completely different story. It seems as though nobody is making progress in getting a deal done. The latest report is that Derek Fisher and the NBA players have called the deal presented by owners is "extremely unfair."
Well, guess what? Life is unfair. You play a game for a living and make more money than most people in the world could ever dream of making. Players and owners need to get it together. Years from now, when looking back at what happened to the absent 2011-12 season, people are going to wonder what happened. It comes down to greed. These guys are here to provide entertainment for people and let people take their jobs, problems, or lives off their mind for a little while. But they are complaining about not making enough money?
What is the league minimum in the NBA? Half a million dollars per year. Really? Come on, man! It's gonna take me like 20 years to make that much money dude! Get this thing figured out, or I'm afraid I'm gonna have to start being a hockey fan. I just think the whole thing is stupid and it's all about greed. So why would anybody wanna support either side?

I'm a Stupid Cat Video

It would be pretty fricken awesome to be a cat, so I thought this video would be appropriate. Especially on a day that I am feeling super lazy and I have a lot to do, I wish I could be this little kitten for the rest of the day and not care about anything. #pointlesspost

The Demise of the Detroit Lions

Just like I called it 5 weeks ago, when the Lions were on top of the league with a 5-0 record. This team is going to fall apart. The offense is too young, and the defense is weak in the secondary. I still don't think the Lions will make the playoffs, and they are hinting that this may be the case. Out of their remaining 7 games, I see them possibly coming away with two victories, over the Panthers and the Raiders.
Jim Schwartz continues to show that his team cannot get anything done without hitting up Calvin Johnson. Stopping the Lions is simple: Keep Johnson out of the endzone. Who else is gonna go up and get a lame duck ball thrown by Matt Stafford?? By the way, I definitely thought it was pretty poor sportsmanship to throw D.J. Moore down to the ground by the back of his helmet in the game yesterday. Come on dude, you threw a horrible pick. Be a man about it.
Also, Ndamukong Suh is kind of a dork. After being labeled as a dirty player he met with Commissioner Goodell last week. But yesterday after throwing Cutler to the ground by his helmet, I think he keeps his reputation as a dirty player. I liked the tweet from @richeisen:

Rich Eisen
I guess Suh and the Commissioner didn't go over the helmet rip last week.

We will see if the Lions continue to fall apart or if they can finally get something going over the next few weeks. I know I'm a homer, but I definitely think the Vikes should have no problem putting them away later this year. I hope this is a post I can look back on and say I called it, because I really do not want to see a guy like Jim Schwartz get credit for anything. He's shown all year just to be a very bad sport about things.

Good Music for the Weekend

First of all if you don't already... follow Matt Herbert, the most hated person in the world, on Twitter @sherbert1707
Next, I have a few songs that I wanna share, because I think they're awesome I hope ya'll like them.

Dylan Owen - Keep Your Friends Close
I don't know anything about this guy, but this is a great song. It's got some pretty good verses and is quite catchy after you listen to it a few times. I'm looking forward to hearing more from him.

e-dubble - Fight for Days
Anyone who knows me knows that I'm probably the biggest e-dubble fan in the world. If you haven't heard him yet, go take a listen. I think most people would enjoy his stuff. It's always upbeat and has some fun lyrics. This is one of his newer jams, and I'm really diggin' it.

RDGLDGRN - I Love Lamp
This song is another one that is just awesome. I like the blend of hip-hop in the rock music. It's another upbeat song that just gets me pumped up.

Gym Class Heroes - The Fighter (feat. Ryan Tedder)
I'm turning into a huge Gym Class Heroes fan with all the new stuff they are producing. Their new album The Papercut Chronicles II is coming out soon, and it sounds like it is gonna be sweet. Here is one of my favorites from their previews for the album, with a nice chorus from Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic. I hope you enjoy this and check out some of their new stuff.

Nationals Catcher Kidnapped

Many have heard the news today that Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos was kidnapped from his home in Venezuela. He was abducted by four armed men who broke into his home Wednesday night. Since then, investigators have found used to kidnap Ramos and Venezuelan police confirmed that he is alive this morning around 11am. It is definitely a scary situation for Ramos and his family, as well as his friends and teammates around Major League Baseball.
Although I do not watch a lot of baseball, I know Ramos was a very key part of the Washington Nationals. As just a rookie he had 15 home runs and 52 RBI's. Obviously, the Nationals have their thoughts with him and his family. They released a statement earlier today:

“Our foremost concern is with Wilson Ramos and his family and our thoughts are with them at this time. Major League Baseball’s Department of Investigations is working with the appropriate authorities on this matter. Both Major League Baseball and the Washington Nationals have been instructed to make no further comment. ”

Hopefully we can continue to get updates on the situation and make sure that Ramos is okay. I hate to see stuff like this happen to such a great athlete. Let's hope that we hear some good news on Ramos and get some positive information soon.

Rookie of the Year: Cam Newton or Andy Dalton?

Everybody has been all about Cam Newton this year, as he has shown to be a good leader and a great athlete in Carolina. With 18 total touchdowns and over 2,700 total yards, he has made football exciting to watch for Panthers fans this season. Not to mention he has the sixth most passing yards in the league right between the likes of Eli Manning and Philip Rivers. If anyone had saw the stats he would be putting up this season at the beginning of the year, there would have been no doubt that Newton would be a shoo-in for the Rookie of the Year award.
But while Cam has put up the big numbers and impressed many, Andy Dalton has quietly been an important part of the success of the Cincinnati Bengals. With 1,700 yards and 12 TD's on just 7 INT, Dalton definitely makes a bid for that ROY award as well. He doesn't have the running ability or the high offensive stats that Newton has put up in Carolina. However, Dalton does have the most important stat over Newton: Wins. Dalton's Bengals are 6-2 this year and have shown to be a tough team to beat as they have won their last five games in a row. Meanwhile, the Panthers are at the bottom of their division with a 2-6 record, winning just one out of their last 5 games.
I'm not going to say that Dalton should definitely be Rookie of the Year, but people need to give this guy some credit for what he has done in Cincinnati. People have overlooked him all year, while giving tons of praises to Cam Newton. To me, Dalton has been more valuable to his team, and has put up the wins to show it. It is going to be interesting to see if these two rookies can continue with their success for the season and for the rest of their careers.

Mark Sanchez Flinches... #smh

This is a great video from this weekend's game Jets vs. Bills. The Jets are lined up in the wildcat formation with Mark Sanchez spread out wide. Just watch the top of the screen. Drayton Florence jumps at Sanchez and makes him flinch big time. That wasn't even the worst of it. Then he goes after Florence and gets a holding penalty and thrown to the ground at the same time. I'm pretty sure he's gonna get some crap from his teammates for that clip.

Is Tim Tebow for Real??

Let's kick this thing off with my thoughts on one of my favorite athletes/people. So Tim Tebow comes out against the Oakland Raiders this weekend after a horrible performance against the Lions last week, and he has a phenomenal game. What's up with that? Well I agree that Tebow has shown to be inconsistent this season, as in the past, but he has also shown me that he is able to win games. Obviously, Willis McGahee played a huge role in the success of the Denver Broncos this week, but Tebow was a huge component of the offense as well. With 118 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, Tebow showed that he can make plays in his own way. He had just 124 passing yards, but he also threw no picks and had two TD's through the air. Now Oakland doesn't have the best defense in the world (ranked 27th), but I don't think you can really take that away from the stellar performance by Tebow.
Do I think Tebow is a future MVP in the NFL? No way. But he has always shown passion and a winning attitude, which is an important factor in a quarterback and team leader. Now it's important for Denver to start building around him. They need to bring in a better offensive line to protect him (especially a right tackle to protect his blind side), a better group of receivers (although I do love Eric Decker), and an offensive plan that works best for Tebow. He is an awesome quarterback when he has his receivers spread out and he can be innovative through the air and on the ground. This team could really improve by focusing on how he works best in an offensive system. Ultimately, I truly think that Tim Tebow can make a difference in Denver and turn this team around in a winning direction.

Starting up the Blog

Ok, so I'm really not sure how this works, but I'm gonna start blogging a few things that I think are interesting. Nobody is going to read it, but it sounds like a fun project and I'm gonna see how long it lasts me. I'll probs try to update with a new post everyday, so we'll see how I do. And if anyone does end up reading these posts, just let me know how dumb/lame they are in the most polite and constructive way possible. Thanks. -Ty
