Ron Burgundy Announces Anchorman Sequel

Here's kind of a cool little thing. Last night on Conan O'Brien's show Ron Burgundy came out playing a flute. He had some fun things to say about Conan and his looks before he made a huge announcement. There will be a sequel to the amazing Anchorman movie. Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time, so I'm happy to hear this news. Hopefully the original cast will be in this one as well. Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd were especially funny in the first, so I'd love to see them again. Should be something very fun to look forward to!

Gophers to the NIT Championship

Of course I go to the U of M and I enjoy watching a little Gophers basketball. So the last couple weeks have been pretty fun, as the Gophers have actually looked like a whole new team. They have made it to the NIT Championship game which is pretty sweet. I didn't think we'd make the actual tourney, so for us to make it to the championship here is pretty fricken' sweet. The Gophers will play against Stanford Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.
And head coach Tubby Smith had to be proud of the guys on his team for pulling it together here at the end of the season. "I'm just so proud of their perseverance, and their ability to overcome so many distractions," Smith said. "Just amazing... It's one of the hardest-working groups of kids I've ever worked with."

Tim Tebow EXCITED to be a New York Jet

This is just too funny. I love Tim Tebow, but you gotta poke fun at him every once in a while. He is so cheesy when he does press conferences. Here he tells the media how excited he is. He doesn't just tell them once... or twice... or thrice. He tells them that he is excited 45 TIMES! Good work Teebs, good luck in New York.

Short Film of the Week: Ruin

This is kind of a cool film I found. Definitely one of my favorites so far. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, evidently run by aliens. It's eight minutes of action-packed fun, so I hope you enjoy!

Bill Parcells - Next Coach in New Orleans?

Bill Parcells could be exactly what Sean Payton needs right now. While Payton will miss the entire season with his recent suspension, he need someone to fill in for the head coaching position in New Orleans. He reached out to his mentor Bill Parcells this week, which could be huge for the Saints. Parcells could keep the Saints alive this season, while not threatening Sean Payton's job. Or so some people think....
I think Parcells is a great coach. That's why I think this would be a bad decision for him. He doesn't wanna take a job for one year unless he really thinks this could be a year to take a team to the Super Bowl. The Saints are a great team, but I just don't think they can make it with Parcells as the coach. Sean Payton has built an amazing offensive system, and I don't think Parcells can come in and take over there. That's just my opinion on the matter, we'll have to see how this ends up...

Tebow News Conference as a Jet

Tebow was officially welcomed to New York today as a member of the Jets. I just loved seeing bits of this press conference (as I was in class and couldn't watch the whole thing). He's such a classy guy and a fun player to watch. I liked a lot of responses he had to the questions he was asked. He avoided going into his faith, as he said the conference was about the Jets. He also said he is not a wildcat package player in the NFL. Both kinda cool answers. Plus he just had the cheesiest smile the whole time, which is classic Tim Tebow. Best of luck to the Jets and Tebow this year. Here's a kinda catchy tune I found while browsing YouTube today. Hope you enjoy!

Matt Forte Is Gonna Leave Chicago

The Bears signed running back Michael Bush today to backup Matt Forte. Bush signed a deal worth $14 million over 4 years. This is about equal to the contract that Forte has right now under his franchise tag. Here's what Forte had to say about it over Twitter:

There's only so many times a man that has done everything he's been asked to do can be disrespected! Guess the GOOD GUYS do finish last....

for the record I'm not mad at the signing of another running back. This is 4th time that's happened. I embrace competition as well as help

Matt ForteMatt Forte  @MattForte22
But as for not taking care of ur own and undervaluing a player under his market value is another story!

Just Keeping it real...hate it or love it

Forte has every right to be mad about this situation. He has easily been the biggest offensive weapon on the Bears for the past 4 or 5 years. He has proven that he is one of the most, if not the most, talented running backs in the league. Last year he made the Pro-Bowl. And what does he get for it?? He gets paid the same as a below average running back. I think Forte is definitely gonna want out of Chicago. They are just straight up disrespecting him, and I think he needs to find a better team. He could really be the missing piece for a lot of teams. But like he said, he's a nice guy. I just hope he isn't too nice to actually get what he deserves. Good luck to Matt Forte in finding what you need man!

Saints Penalized for Bounty

Yesterday Commissioner Roger Goodell came down on the Saints with the largest punishment in league history. This included a year-long suspension of head coach Sean Payton, a 8-game suspension of GM Mickey Loomis, a 6-game suspension of assistant coach Joe Vitt, and a half-million dollar fine. On top of that there will be an indefinite suspension to defensive coordinator Gregg Williams decided after this season. There will also be player suspensions and fines to go along with that.
This was such a huge punishment that is definitely deserved. Many people have criticized Goodell for being to hard on the Saints organization, but I feel he did the right thing, maybe not even enough. His main goal in this situation is to guarantee the league that there will be no more bounties. If that's the case you need to come down super hard on the offending team. You need to make other teams see that this will not be tolerated in any way. The health and safety of players should come first.
And for anyone who thinks he did come down to hard on the Saints, I hope you all realize that they were trying to knock guys out and hurt them. They were trying to end their game, their season, and their career. These are humans with families, and this is how they make money to put on the table. I think people need to realize what is happening here, and know that you can't over-penalize a team enough for doing something like this.

Tebow to the Jets

Tim Tebow has been traded to the New York Jets for a 4th round pick in this year's draft. This is an interesting trade, as it means Tebow will be playing under raunchy, but hilarious, head coach Rex Ryan. I think the Jets robbed the Broncos in this trade, as Tebow as shown to be a great football player and a great leader in the NFL. I'm really hoping Tebow will get a shot on the field this year, even as just a specialty package guy. I think Mark Sanchez probably has some of the lowest confidence in the NFL, which could be crucial in helping Tebow to earn that starting job at some point.
I can't hate on the Broncos, because they have Peyton Manning. I certainly hope there is some way that the Broncos will regret trading Tebow, because he is certainly a good football player. Best of luck to Tim and the Jets this year, as well as Peyton and the Broncos.

Short Film of the Week: Puss in Boots - The Three Diablos

I picked a kids movie this week. It's kinda funny I guess. I hope you like it.

Ultimate Dog Tease

This is just a funny video that I thought I would post. Found it on Facebook and it had me chuckling pretty good. It's just another reason why dogs are the best animals on the planet. I hope you enjoy.

Peyton Manning to the Broncos

Peyton Manning will be a Denver Bronco this fall, as he announced today that he wants to play under John Elway. It sucks because I'm a huge Tebow fan, but I really like Manning, so I don't really know how to feel about this. I hope Tebow can sit a few years under Manning and learn from one of the best in the game. I'd love to see Tebow come back with more skills and the same passion for the game.
Manning will most likely be seeing a five-year contract with the Broncos which means he will finish his career in Denver. I hope he has a great end to an awesome career, and I can't wait to see how the Broncos will do with that defense and possibly a great offense. Should be a fun team to watch this season.

Free Agency Update

Free Agency began in the NFL yesterday afternoon, and it was a pretty wild day. To kick things off, the Bears made a trade in which they received Brandon Marshall for two third-round picks. He will be the top target in Chicago and should be fun to watch now that he has Cutler back throwing to him. The Bears also were able to snag Jason Campbell out of free agency, so there will be no more going back to Caleb Hanie.
One of the biggest signings was Vincent Jackson, who signed in Tampa Bay early yesterday. We knew they would be going after a receiver at some point and Jackson will really help that offense. The Bucs also spent big money on the offensive line, as Carl Nicks joined the team last night. He's probably the best lineman that was on the board, so that is huge. They also signed CB Eric Wright to a five-year deal. Tampa is really spending the money they need to become a great team in the NFL.
There were a few more big receiver signings as well. Reggie Wayne is gonna go back to Indy, which definitely surprised a lot of people. I think everyone pretty much thought he would follow Manning wherever he went, but I think it's kinda cool that he wants to finish where he started. The other former Colts receiver signed a big five-year contract in Washington to play with the Redskins yesterday too. The Skins also signed Josh Morgan and plan to sign Eddie Royal as well. They are really diggin' those receivers for the arrival of Robert Griffin III. The Patriots also plan on signing Brandon Lloyd soon.
Cortland Finnegan got a big contract from the St. Louis Rams yesterday as he reunites with his old coach, Jeff Fisher. Finnegan is one of the top defensive players, and probably the most valuable defensive back. There is also Brandon Carr, who could sign in Dallas soon. The Bills may sign Mario Williams, who is the best defensive player out there right now. They have a contract ready for him that would make him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. I don't know how you wouldn't sign that...
Overall it has been very interesting. I'll probably make more updates as the free agency period continues, because I would like to see where Matt Flynn, Eric Winston, LaRon Landry, and of course, Peyton Manning end up. It should be a fun week in football.

Short Film of the Week: The Black Hole

Kind of an interesting pick for this week. A man discovers a sheet of paper that creates a black hole, into which he can reach through anything. It's kind of fun to think about what you might be able to do with a black hole, so I thought it would be a cool video to share. Enjoy.

Funny Urinating in Public Trick

This is a funny dude who likes to get in trouble. He fakes like he's peeing right in front of cops, but when they come up to confront him they notice he just has a water bottle he's squirting on the ground. I just thought it was kind of a funny little deal to share.

Randy Moss Signs with Niners

One of my favorite NFL players of all-time is back in the league officially today. Randy Moss signed a one year deal with the San Francisco 49ers today. I think this is a huge signing for the Niners, especially with the year they had last year. Reports were that Moss looked "like the old Randy" in his tryouts with the team. If San Fran can sign Alex Smith back they are gonna be a team to look out for. I think Jim Harbaugh is one of the best coaches in the NFL, and I think they are gonna be a pretty kick ass team this year. Look for that downfield passing game with verticle threats like Moss, Vernon Davis, and Michael Crabtree. I wish the best of luck to Randy and the Niners this season.

2012 NCAA Mens Tournament

There is your 2012 March Madness NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament schedule. It should be a fun tournament to watch as there are a lot of great teams. Unfortunately my Gophers didn't make it to the tournament, but I do have one team to cheer for. Gotta go with the home team and cheer for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. They have a pretty good team, including Nate Wolters who has been dominant for the Jacks this year. However, in the first round they face off against Baylor, who I think could be a possible Final Four team this year. There is no slowing down their athleticism, and I'm pretty sure there isn't a player near South Dakota that can keep up with Baylor forward Quincy Acy.
My picks for the Final Four are a bit interesting this year. Of course, I gotta go with Kentucky in the South. They are just too athletic and can score on you from the inside and outside. They are gonna be tough to stop. Interestingly, I'm gonna go with another SEC team in the West. I really think Florida is a great team, and I thought they got ripped off with just a 7 seed in the tourney. I think it will come down to a matchup between Mizzou and the Gators for that section of the bracket. In the East, I'm going with another upset, picking the Cincinnati Bearcats. I don't know why I'm picking them, but I thought they looked like a great in their conference tournament, and it is gonna be tough to stop Yancy Gates down there in the post. And lastly, I'm gonna take North Carolina in the Midwest. I think Harrison Barnes is the best player in college basketball, and he is gonna take that team far. Also look out for Tyler Zeller who could be huge in their performances over the next few weekends.
I'm not a huge college basketball fan, but from the little bit that I watch, I have to offer some kind of prediction. This is what I got right here, and hopefully I'm not too big of a goon with these picks. Good luck to everyone in the tournament, it's gotta feel great just to be there.

Ricky Rubio Out for Season

The worst day of the Wolves season was yesterday when it was announced that Ricky Rubio would be out for the season. He tore his left ACL late in Sunday's game against the Lakers in a collision with Kobe Bryant. This was absolutely one of the worst things that could happen for not only the Wolves, but Ricky as well. We know it is tough for anyone to come back from this kind of injury, but at such a young age, this is especially difficult to see happen to Ricky Rubio. I hope he is able to bounce back next season, and he is very confident in himself:

Ok,I got injured in thebest moment of my career, but honestly, 2day im happy thanks to all the support Ive received.I'll come back stronger

It's awesome to see that he has positive thoughts about his return next season. Last night the Wolves played the most pathetic game I think I've ever seen. Obviously the absence of Rubio got to them, but hopefully that isn't a big deal in the future. Look for a trade soon bringing a point guard to Minnesota. I think Beasley is probably on his way out... #sucky.
Minnesota is the place where great athletes come to get injured I've decided. Some of the best players from each of the big three teams in Minneapolis have some awful injuries. Justin Morneau, former AL MVP, is likely to miss a lot/all of the season for the Twins. Adrian Peterson tore his ACL last season and may have a difficult comeback to the Vikings this year as well. And now Rubio is in trouble... I just hope that all these guys get healthy and back into sports. Good luck Ricky!

Spring Break

Whoo! Spring Break! Unfortunately I went the other way (<----) to South Dakota, where I will be working for a week. That means I probably won't be updating the blog a ton, but that doesn't really matter, because no one reads it anyway! #awesome #happyspringbreak

The Pro Letarians - Hello Forever

Here is an awesome mixtape that everyone should download. If you just like rap music then this is a great mixtape. I've never heard anything about this group, but I decided I'd take a listen and I love it. The rapper on these tracks is a guy going by the name of Jupiter Jim. JJ is bring it on this album for sure. He sounds just like Kanye and as a real similar flow. I really suggest downloading this free mixtape, and look for some more of their stuff. I'm about to do that right now... Download the mixtape here:

Ahh New Music!

I did a little play on words there relating my "Ahh New Music" to the old cartoon "Ahh Real Monsters", isn't that fricken cool? Nope, didn't think so... Well, hopefully these songs are cool.

Tarik - Know Her Name
I came across this song this week and I just liked it, so I put it on here. That's all I can really say...

Lil' O - In Da Wind (feat. Chamillionaire, Killa Kyleon)
I love some classic Chamillionaire, and this one is the best song I have ever heard in my entire life. No just kidding, I just said that so Isak would laugh a little.... He didn't laugh. Enjoy the song though.

Scotty James - Wanna Be Loved (feat. Yonas)
Scotty James is a boss. Yonas is pretty good. So this song is pretty bossy good...

Peyton Manning to be Released

It has just been announced that Peyton Manning will be released by the Indianapolis Colts tomorrow. After 15 years in the league as a Colt, Manning will find a new home next fall. The team is cutting Manning to avoid a $28 million cap hit, making him the most coveted free agent since Reggie White. Manning has been the face of this Colts franchise since his rookie year in the league. Sad day to see Manning leave his team that he basically built. I'm hoping he ends up in a good place where he can finish his great career. I'm thinking he will get offers from Washington, Cleveland, and the New York Jets. Wherever he goes, I'm sure he'll be great, because he is just a great player and a great leader.
This most certainly means that Andrew Luck will be in Indianapolis next season. I would be surprised if the Colts went with anyone different. I don't know how great this will be for Luck however. With Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon potentially leaving Indy, there are not gonna be a lot of weapons for Luck to go to. I wouldn't expect Luck to get far next season, but hopefully that doesn't slow him down. I think he'll be an amazing quarterback in the future. He could even be the next Peyton Manning.

Stevie Johnson Re-Signs with Bills

The Bills wrapped up receiver Stevie Johnson for five more years worth $36.25 million, $19 million of which is guaranteed. This is a huge signing for the Bills as they will hold on to their number one target for a while. It's an even better deal for Stevie Johnson who will keep his job as the number one target and get paid some big bucks. I was hoping that the Vikes would close in on Johnson over the free agency period, but I guess that won't be happening. Good luck to Stevie in Buffalo! Here's what he said on Twitter about his quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick, who shaved his hair in honor of Stevie getting signed. Look at that picture!

My man Fitzmagic came thru for me & all of you. Had to sign...check it out. 13 isn't anything w/out14, now you see why

Short Film of the Week: Kobe Bryant is "The Black Mamba"

This is definitely one of my favorite short films that I have come across. And with Kobe having such a great week with the Lakers, it's only right that I feature him in the film. Kobe stars as "The Black Mamba" and goes through the adventure of taking on rivals played by some great stars. Danny Trejo, Bruce Willis, and Kanye West are all the opponents that Kobe will have to face in this basketball-action film. It is quite a fun and exciting short, so I hope you enjoy!

Saints Organized Bounty

I'm sure everybody has heard the news of the New Orleans Saints bounty to injure opposing players, administered by defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. This is particularly interesting to Vikings fans, such as myself, as well as Cardinals fans. Everyone saw the dirty hits the Saints laid out on Kurt Warner in the NFC Divisional Playoffs in 2009. Then Brett Favre took those dirty hits the next week in the conference championship. I'm sure it is likely that other teams have bounties in the NFL, but this is the only one I'm hearing of, other than that in Washington where Gregg Williams was also coaching...
I think there needs to be major punishment to this team and especially the coaches and players involved. Anyone who is purposely trying to hurt players deserves nothing less than a big fine and suspension. I would hope that Gregg Williams gets suspended for the season, as well as some of those guys who were leading the charge.
Of course Darren Sharper denied the allegations that there was a $10,000 bounty to knock out Favre in the championship game. But looking back it is pretty obvious that they were trying to kill the guy... I gotta give some credit to Favre for sticking in that game and playing the whole thing. He showed just how tough it is to knock out the Ironman of the NFL. Even $10,000 couldn't take out Favre. Heres how Percy Harvin responded on Twitter the other day...

I hope what I'm hearing on this bounty program saints had on my man Brett ain't true

Twins Spring Training

The Twins start their season today in Florida as Spring Training kicks off. I don't know where one can watch this game, but I'm sure we'll see the highlights on ESPN for the next few weeks. This is an exciting time because it means baseball is close and I can't wait to make it to a couple games at Target Field this Spring. I'm sure I can make a follow-up post about the progress of the team throughout Spring Training. Go Twinkies!

Vikings New Stadium Plan

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton along with Vikings owner Zygi Wilf proposed the plan for the new stadium in Minneapolis yesterday. This is huge news for Vikes fans, as it means the we'll have a good chance of keeping the team here in Minnesota for a long time.
The stadium proposed would go over where the Metrodome is at right now and open up a lot of room for parking and tailgaiting. The central location is perfect for getting this deal done, as it is a good place for fans to come and a prime spot for lawmakers who think this stadium will benefit the economy. This also keeps the stadium right next to the light rail, making it much easier to get to and from games. The new dome has been predicted to be a more "playful version of Lucas Oil Stadium", which is where the Indianapolis Colts play right now. It would have a fixed dome, which is cheaper and better for a Minneapolis climate anyway. Architects want to design a stadium that would represent the downtown district well, most likely playing off what the Twins have done with Target Field, which has been very well-liked by many baseball fans around the country. Above is probably a good representation of what the finished stadium would look like, but it's still very early to tell.
This is huge for Vikings fans and the city of Minneapolis. Minneapolis has been known for having a great downtown zone with all of our great buildings, such as the Guthrie Theatre, Gold Medal Park, Target Field, and everything in the Mill City District. Even for those who don't like football, I think this stadium is gonna be something that people in Minneapolis really appreciate for many years. As you can probably tell, I'm really excited about this deal, and I'm glad a deal finally got done!
